A bit pricey perhaps, especially for a family, but well worth it in my view. he then expresses his frustration at the people who do like it because they only like. Our two chariots did two or three complete circuits of the hippodrome in a cloud of dust and it gave a real sense of what a true Roman show might have been like, with more chariots and 15,000 excited spectators. Romulus (founder of Rome) held chariot races at this celebration. The chariot racing which finishes the show is genuinely impressive. The gladiators were fun and you have a chance to vote on the loser’s survival (or not) at the end of each bout - surprising what that brings out in the spectators! - though it’s true the fight scenes are moderately hammy. We had 14 or so actors playing the Roman soldiers and demonstrating their tactics, in an informative and fairly energetic way - and their armour and uniforms are impressive too. There is now a big shaded area to sit in to watch the show, too - pretty essential in the heat - and the tannoy and commentary system also worked perfectly for us. The show lasts just over 30 minutes, which is fine, and there is a chance to have photos taken with the Roman soldiers, gladiators and charioteers at the end. Don’t expect top quality acting: that’s not what it’s about - much more an entertaining way of making the hippodrome and it’s history come alive. I missed this on a previous visit to Jerash and was pleased to catch it this time. Youll love the Ben Hur Chariot Races: Sells Brothers - Advertisements at Wayfair - Great Deals on all Dcor.
